How have botanical names and common names shaped our understanding of the nature of various herbal medicines and the cultures who have worked with them? How have these names changed throughout history? In this class, we’ll look at themes associated with plant names. We’ll examine the information we can integrate from the various names of specific plants, and see how this might help to deepen our familiarity with the plants.

A look at historical and modern Western approaches to medical astrology and herbalism.  In this class, we will analyze the traits of both Saturn and Pluto, as perceived in plants and in people through a holistic health lens.  We’ll examine the ways that our relationships with these planetary influences have shifted through time, and how that can play into our current work with plants as medicines.
